BIO
Lucio Martinez is an accomplished fine artist and has been painting, competing and exhibiting since 1964. His works are a collection of figurative and abstract art, however he has produced a strong body of printmaking pieces. Lucio's compositions reflect the human nature in its fallen state with themes ranging from the biblical to the modern age. His abstractions express beauty through the playful use of vibrant color. In his own words, he endeavors, "to present a version of reality that is parallel to existing reality," and is, "devoted to depicting a realism according to what [I] perceive to be real or truthful." Lucio works primarily with acrylic on canvas and woodcut prints.

Lucio graduated from the Philippine Women's University in 1966 with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. He immigrated to the United States in 1969 where he worked in California mass producing hundreds of paintings. In 1973, he moved to New York to pursue his own art. There he formed the Sepia Workshop & Gallery, the first Filipino art gallery, in Soho with Manuel Rodriguez, Jr., Marcelino Rodriguez and Lamberto Henchanova. During his time in NYC, Lucio's work .....He moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1978 and continues to produce and exhibit his work to this day.
